About:
I am a self-proclaimed Jersey girl, who despite the cold weather and excessive tolls, refuses to leave the East Coast. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and from there, went on to obtain my Juris Doctor at Fordham University School of Law, in New York City. I have always enjoyed serving as an advocate for criminal defendant rights both in and out of law school. As a part of Fordham’s Criminal Defense Clinic, I successfully aided in the representation of clients from arraignments to dispositions. I have also worked at various public defenders offices all over the country, and have even traveled to my native land of Jamaica, where I worked with the Independent Counsel for Human Rights on critical issues facing inmates incarcerated on capital charges. On my off time, I had the opportunity to meet my favorite reggae artist, Jah Cure, hang out with friends in New Kingston, and fill-up on authentic jerk chicken. Prior to starting with Colby and Associates, I devoted much of my time to indigent defense work. As an attorney working with Legal Services New Jersey, I consulted with plaintiff clients on issues such as child custody, divorce, and domestic violence. This was definitely a change of pace from my prior position as a legal fellow with New York County Defender Services, where I aided in the representation of criminal defendant clients facing felony and domestic abuse charges. I still represent indigent clients from time to time on a pro bono basis, and have worked with Lawyers for Justice, providing services for indigent clients seeking criminal record expungements. In my free time I enjoy participating in marathons with friends and watching reality television with my Pomeranian, Kimora.
