About:

I focus my legal practice on family law, dealing with various cases including divorce, child custody, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, child support, and adoption. I am an approved family court mediator and serve as a Guardian Ad Litem, where I advocate for children’s interests, and as a Friend of Court, where I provide recommendations to the Courts on issues related to children. Over the years, I have held several leadership roles, including President of the Association of Parent’s Attorneys of Louisville, President of the Guardian Ad Litem’s Association of Louisville, and Chair of the Family Law Section of the Louisville Bar Association. I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and have also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, where I taught law students about Family Law and Mediation skills. Additionally, I have worked as an attorney consultant for the Casey Family Programs foundation on the Judicial Engagement Team, assisting Courts across the country in developing practices in child abuse and neglect cases. "Working with Mr. DeMuth & Mr. Mains has been hands down the best decision I have made in regards to family court. I wouldn’t want to have such an important and fragile matter in the hands of anyone else. Mr. Mains is highly intelligent, organized, responsive, and thorough, in the court room. Highly recommend you reach out to them if you are seeking competent counsel."

"Over changed, the invoices and fees are very inaccurate. I was told a divorce would cost around $2000 more or less. I’ve been charged 3 times that and never even got a divorce. Leaving a voicemail for them is $35. Each email response and reply is a fee. I could understand if I was charged even $1000 or $2000 more, a simple, uncontested divorce, no kids, only requested that my ex would share any responsibility for the debts he left me with, only one court hearing and the case was dragged out instead of my request to draw up a mutually agreed settlement. Now I’m in even more debt and dealing with the divorce process myself."
