"I'm not rating the firm, but I'm definitely rating Lindsay Arvelo based off our experience with her and her Paralegal, Melanie. We were actually referred to Tangi Carter but didn't realize she mainly handles criminal until it was a little too late. (My husband wish he would've went with his gut feeling and just handled the petition filed by his ex wife) My husband and I hired them back in December of 2024 ONLY because Hunter, the receptionist/paralegal, told us that Tangi was available on the Dec 5th court date and since my husband's parental rights were trying to be taken away we needed to take immediate action (AND we sent the retainer fee before we meet them in person; I WOULD ADVISE NO ONE TO DO THIS) but once they got our $5000 retainer fee, we received a call from Melanie saying that they rescheduled the date (without our knowledge, because had they let us know before we would've never hired them) and that Lindsay (she wasn't available on the hearing date) would be the attorney. We expressed our concerns and was told by Hunter we were getting a 2 for 1. Not true! We literally told Lindsay that this case needed to be iron clad. We told her what we expected and what we wanted. My husband is blue collar but he's extremely intelligent and pays close attention to details. He also, wanted this to be handled in a timely manner because the allegations in the petition were false and there was no proof/evidence. (Jumping ahead, but no proof/evidence was presented at the 1st court date) We really felt like Lindsay was not getting the job done and here are a list of reasons: 1. On the new hearing date: we expected the petition to be dismissed and to move forward with his counterclaim. Because we knew there was no proof/evidence of the allegations in the petition but instead we were assigned with a GAL and new hearing date. SMH! 2. We received a court order for a proposal letter to be sent to the GAL within so many days and we almost missed the time frame because Lindsay and/or Melanie, didn't look at the order and notice the deadline. If he wasn't for my husband looking at the order we would've missed the deadline. [My husband and I took the court order seriously] 3. We asked them not to use our resources on communication with opposing counsel that was uncessary but they continued to do so. 4. They called and told my husband not to pick his son up from school (we needed to take him to the doctor) but my husband as 50/50 legal and physical custody. There was NOTHING in place that said my husband couldn't pick his son up from school. 5. The last thing that happened that lead us to seek new counsel was an executed and agreed temporary order for Spring break signed by attorneys, GAL and the Judge, WITHOUT our knowledge and the verbiage was NOT something we would've agreed too. We asked them to get a motion to amend and they basically refused. So we were like nope, we need an attorney that's going to fight for us not be against us. That's how we felt. There were several other issues but I listed the most important. March 2025 - Termination of Legal Relationship was sent. So we sent them a notice of termination and got new counsel. When we received the bill ALL of the retainer fee had be used except for about $600. Most on stuff that was uncessary. So far, we have spent well over $20,000.00. This is our experience (because he was told in so many words that his case was not that important and that my husband would need to learn how to get along with his ex wife) Furthermore, they are not in our shoes and really didn't understand what we are dealing with it. So too sum things up, if your looking for a BEAST custody/divorce attorney, look elsewhere. I've heard that Tangi is really good. We didn't get a chance to meet or speak with her."
