In the early ’90s, Steve moved to Tallahassee, Florida to continue his studies at Florida State University’s College of Law, where he met fellow law student and his future law partner, Shawn Risen. In 1995, Steve graduated with honors and received a Juris Doctorate, and one year later, Steve and Shawn Risen established Risen & Ryan, Attorneys at Law.

"I would just like to take a minute and say thank you to Shawn, and Kenya for their professionalism, politeness , And great communication that was shown to me throughout my recent divorce. Shawn is an amazing attorney, that is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Not only did he Do a great job representing me through my divorce, but he also did an amazing job representing me when my ex wife tried to file a frivolous protective order against me. And working with Kenya throughout The entire process was great. She is so friendly and polite and so knowledgeable. She is also very fast to respond to any questions that I had, or get answers directly from Shawn if she wasn’t sure. For anyone going through a divorce or any other family law matters I highly highly recommend Risen and Ryan! And while I hope that I don’t have to call upon their services again if I am in need of a family law attorney in the future, they will be my go to. Five stars for service, knowledge, politeness, and making what is a very stressful time in life a little bit less stressful. Thank you, Shawn and Kenya Joel Miller"

"Been contemplating for awhile about even dropping a review but to save the next military member or for that matter a guy in general… don’t bother going. Dan won’t keep in contact with you then will randomly call when he has questions (weeks later). The worst part of it is that he tells me the day of court “so I’m not going to hammer her but if I was her attorney then I would 100% hammer you”. Talk about a spit to the face. If you looking to just get quickly divorced and a lack luster of support if you’re going through custody then he’s your guy! Shout out my guy Dan. You a real one champ."

"I met with Mr.Ryan today for a consultation and was immediately unimpressed. He was very rude, did not introduce himself or even consider pleasantries. After 2 minutes i knew this wasn’t what I was looking for. All legal rules aside, I could tell there would be no compassion in the matter. If you want someone who doesn’t care about YOU this is your lawyer."
