Stephen Govin is an experienced and aggressive Criminal Defense Attorney, representing clients in state and federal courts throughout Wisconsin. Stephen received a B.A. in Criminology from Marquette University in 1999. He attended on an athletic scholarship for soccer, where he helped Marquette reach its first NCAA Division I soccer tournament. His J.D. was earned at Marquette University Law School in 2003, focusing on criminal law from his first day. Stephen clerked for the Honorable Victor Manion in Milwaukee County Circuit Court and the Honorable Chief Judge Richard Brown of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, as well as worked at the Milwaukee Office of the State Public Defender. Stephen is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is admitted to practice in the State of Wisconsin and the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Wisconsin. Stephen has been recognized for his skill and success for many years. He has been named a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers every year since 2013 as well as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers Association. Additionally, in 2014, Stephen received a Top 10 Award from the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys. "So far so good.. Just hired Mr. Govin for my first OWI. He was pretty straight forward and on point as far as communication goes. This situation still feels like a nightmare and I usually prefer and think that doing things myself will bestow the best outcome, however I’m wise enough to know at times, I need more power to ensure the best outcome, hopefully! I’ll update once this situation is completely behind me."
