Sara Leiner Schuler is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), and practices all aspects of family law in the Northern Virginia area, including Divorce, Child Custody, Child Support, Spousal Support and Alimony, Prenuptial Agreements, Step-Parent Adoptions (including Same-Sex Step-Parent Adoptions), Uncontested Divorces, and Enforcement Issues. Ms. Schuler also represents clients in the Collaborative Divorce process, a voluntary team-based approach in which a couple chooses to divorce without contested litigation to best meet their respective individual needs and the needs of any minor children. Ms. Schuler practices family law in both the Circuit and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts of Fairfax County, Arlington County, Alexandria City, Prince William County and Loudoun County. Ms. Schuler has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Virginia Super Lawyer in Family Law, on the Top 50 Women list, and on the Top 100 Lawyers list, and as a Washington, D.C. "I consulted with four lawyers (at different firms) until I settled on Sara Schuler. My case ultimately went to trial, with a large firm on the other side. We won on every issue, and I can't express I grateful I am that I had ultimately chose Sara. Sara is precise and accurate, which is essential in the unfortunate case that you go to court. The trial was like an enormous fact checking exercise involving thousands of pages of documents. Our credible presentation of the facts was central to our trial win. In contrast, mistakes and misrepresentations seemed to sink the other side. I also felt I could trust Sara. The other lawyers I consulted with tried to badger me into settling for an inequitable asset division rather than risk their reputations in a court room. Not that Sara was at all eager to go to court---she was also very reluctant, but at least she didn’t lie to me to try to get me to do what’s best for her career.
