Robert J. Cleek, a San Francisco native, attended St. Joseph's College Seminary and the University of San Francisco, graduating in 1970. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked for nearly a decade in law enforcement as a correctional officer and counselor at San Quentin State Prison. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Golden Gate University School of Law 1978 and was admitted to practice immediately thereafter.
