Robert J. Cleek, a San Francisco native, attended St. Joseph's College Seminary and the University of San Francisco, graduating in 1970. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked for nearly a decade in law enforcement as a correctional officer and counselor at San Quentin State Prison. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Golden Gate University School of Law 1978 and was admitted to practice immediately thereafter. He is admitted to practice before all the courts of California, the local federal District Courts, the Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Early in his legal career, Mr. Cleek’s practice included criminal defense and civil rights litigation as well general civil litigation matters through which he gained broad experience in trial and appellate practice. For the past twenty years his practice has been limited to family law trial and appellate practice, with an particular emphasis on complex litigation involving property division as well as issues relating to parenting and domestic violence. Mr. Cleek has been honored with an "AV" rating by Martindale Hubbel, the nation's foremost attorney peer rating system, being rated by his professional peers as a "preeminent" attorney with the very highest ethical standards. Cleek and Elin accepts cases in Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and San Francisco Counties, as well as appeals before the appellate courts.
