About:
It's been nearly twenty (20) years since I started Deaton Law Firm, LLC, following a clerkship with a South Carolina Circuit Court judge with a reputation of being both scholarly and demanding of his clerks. That experience was extremely rewarding and led to me wanting to handle a variety of legal matters. I've handled criminal defense matters in Federal, State, Magistrate, and Municipal Courts ranging from the smallest traffic ticket and DUI to murder and everything in between. In the Family Court, I have represented individuals in connection with divorces, separations, adoptions, termination of parental rights, juvenile charges, name changes, abuse and neglect proceedings involving the SC Department of Social Services, and Orders of Protection from Domestic Abuse. I've represented individuals in various civil matters, including wrongful death, medical malpractice, surveying malpractice, post-conviction relief, automobile accidents, workers' compensation, dog bites, violations of the consumer protection code and the SC Unfair Trade Practices Act, landlord/tenant matters, contract disputes, slip and fall accidents, false arrest/malicious prosecution cases, and defamation actions involving libel and slander. I've been fortunate to have been nominated and appointed as a magistrate for Berkeley County in 2009 and currently serve as Chief Magistrate. I have presided over thousands of bench trials and jury trials in both civil and criminal cases, landlord/tenant matters (both commercial and residential), restraining orders, claim and delivery actions, public sales, and small claims cases.

"Rad Deaton was very unprofessional, did not even give me time to explain my civil rights violation. He immediately started barking that he and no other attorney would take my case without even giving me the chance to explain the circumstances. Would not recommend, I'd rate zero stars if that were an option."
