New York State Office of The New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services (ILS) is an office of diverse professionals who share a common goal of ensuring that people caught up in our criminal legal and Family Court systems receive quality legal representation, even if they cannot afford to retain their own lawyer. We envision a public defense system in New York State that honors the innate dignity of all people, and we work to elevate the stature of public defense in New York. Please note that while ILS is committed to building a quality public defense system in New York State, we do not provide direct representation to people.
