DVLawyers AI Summary:
North County Public Defense is dedicated to providing compassionate and effective legal representation for individuals facing misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges, particularly in the Whatcom and Skagit County areas of Washington. The firm understands that navigating the criminal justice system can be overwhelming and frightening, especially for those who may be facing charges for the first time. Their focus on criminal defense, including DUI and misdemeanor offenses, indicates a commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of their clients. The tone of the firm is notably empathetic and trauma-informed. They approach each case with a recognition of the emotional and psychological challenges that clients may face, offering not just legal guidance but also the assurance that clients are not alone in their struggles. This is particularly important for survivors of domestic violence who may also be involved in legal matters related to their situation, as such individuals often face additional stress and fear. For survivors seeking legal representation, North County Public Defense could be a suitable option if you are charged with a misdemeanor offense and require a public defender. They demonstrate a commitment to fair and equitable treatment within the legal system, aiming to safeguard the rights of their clients. However, it’s important to note that their services are primarily focused on criminal defense rather than specialized domestic violence advocacy. Therefore, if your legal needs extend beyond criminal charges—such as seeking a restraining order or navigating custody issues—this firm may not provide the comprehensive support you require. It's wise to assess your specific legal needs and consider whether their expertise aligns with those needs before proceeding.

"Had a horrible experience with this division compared to other defense teams I’ve worked with in other counties. Constantly switched with defenders with no notification, no call backs until days or week later, lacked knowledge on my case/background & unhelpful with my case on things truly needed. Definitely was brushed off just to get the case off the desk. Hope no one else experiences this."

"Thos office and its employees are the best I have encountered. The professionalism is shown in the way that they are always available and handle your matters in a way tha5 shows you are just another pay check. They care about their clients or that is what I have observed in every encounter with any of their staff even if they are not your attorney. I just pray that this office is on the chopping block. John."

"Does not counsel with all clients. Also, pick up your phone. If you have official business hours atleast respect them and operate within them or else why are they listed as such."

"I don't even want to give them a single star rating because Robert Lockhart is by far one of the most useless attorneys that I have ever had. I have been dealing with this case now for over three years and have court today at 1:30. Called his office yesterday, the day before, every single day last week and many times before that. All trying to reach him before this hearing. Finally got someone on the phone yesterday that promised he would be calling today before my hearing. Guess what? He hasn't called. So I called him instead. Conveniently he is out sick today. What am I supposed to do with this guy? File a grievance with the Wsba? Because that's the only thing I can think of that would actually get his attention. I'm not even sure how or why he is still employed. -Mariah Williams"
