DVLawyers AI Summary:

The Law Office of David T. Ruegg primarily focuses on helping clients navigate the complex process of dividing retirement benefits, particularly through Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), during divorce proceedings. This legal firm recognizes that the division of assets can often be a complex and emotionally charged aspect of separation, especially for survivors of domestic violence. Their commitment is to assist clients in wrapping up their divorces efficiently, thereby empowering them to move forward with their lives. The tone of the firm is straightforward yet compassionate, as they aim to provide clear guidance through what can often feel like an overwhelming process. They emphasize the importance of understanding QDROs and how they relate to clients' rights regarding retirement accounts. This firm appears to be trauma-informed, focusing on making the legal transitions as smooth as possible for individuals who may already be dealing with the aftermath of domestic abuse. They address common concerns and misconceptions surrounding financial matters in divorce, which can be particularly critical for survivors, who may feel vulnerable in these situations. While the Law Office of David T. Ruegg specializes in retirement benefits and QDROs, potential clients should consider if their primary legal needs align with these specific services. Those requiring broader family law support or immediate assistance with domestic violence issues may need to seek additional resources. However, for individuals looking to understand and navigate the financial implications of their separation, particularly in terms of retirement benefits, this firm could be a supportive partner during this challenging time. Their focus on client education and reassurance can help survivors feel more in control as they take significant steps toward their new beginnings.

"Do not hire this office to do your QDRO !!! Constantly asked you to sign the wrong paperwork… David does not care about his reputation… he does not care. about his clients and that his paralegal doesn’t not file correct paperwork… it took me 10 months to finally get my QDRO which was very easy as the union lawyers gave him a sample letter but refused to use it … then tells you I have 10 months to get you your QDRO … which at most should have taken a month …. Their lack of professionalism … I would not hire this firm ever again!!!! DONT HIRE THEM !!!!!!"

"Rudest lawyer I've ever encountered. Do not waste your time! After 6 months of nothing in QDRO and randomly blaming me for putting it on hold because I apparently made a call to their office to put it on hold. When I asked for court order for the hold, he "resumes it". When I asked him what has been done so far, he said "your problem will be handled and we're done talking" and hangs up on me. Very dismissive. I'm not sure how they allow him to practice still. From the reviews, it's apparently not just my experience with him."

"A very disappointing experience and I would not use him if your wanting anything done as his timing will not be your timing. You will end up taking matters in your own hands and doing the leg work yourself. Do not recommend and a very bad experience and time and money lost!"

"After a full year of not preparing and submitting the paperwork the for my QDRO and blaming Riverside county court “they are closed due to the Coronavirus “ , (they closed 2 weeks after all paperwork was submitted to the office) the family court was only closed for about 6 weeks in total. After many excuses paper work was submitted only to be denied by the court. Neither David Ruegg or Natasia Ruegg knew how to fix it. Both blamed the judges saying they don’t understand QDRO’s. The court clerks were the ones that corrected the attorneys mistakes. This was after over a year. Do NOT use these attorneys to do your QDRO submissions. They might know how to do the divorce side of it but they definitely don’t know how to do the final steps of collecting. I did file with the State Bar. Eventually I did get all but $40.00 of the fee I paid, I don’t have a clue what that was for."
