"I filed a chapter 13 back in February of 2019. Mark didn't do his job and kept postponing hearings saying I didn't have paperwork turn in. So I called the trustees office. the lady at the trustee's office didn't understand how come he kept postponing hearings when everything waseverything was turned. So I got told by a trusty lady that my money that I've been paying from June to December is just sitting in their bank account. Then I end up pulling out because I was getting a settlement. Then I get a bill from Mr. Van Epp for $3500. As that being said I went from $7,000 in debt to $15000 and that on my mortgage. because of the money sitting in the bank the only thing they paid was for my car and then I get a bill for Mark saying that he wants $3,500 and it was his fault that none of the money got but but we're supposed. Because of him saying I didn't have paperwork in and then postponing. My bankruptcy was already in progress for months before my accident. And you guys didn't even have my paperwork done. And they said they were waiting on me and it was really you they were waiting on."

"We went to him for an adoption case, took forever to serve the biological father his papers even though they had his work and home addresses, and after the adoption finally went through and we thought all was good we get a call from DHS several years later about Child support because this guy never filed the new birth certificate with the court. Now our state benefits are at risk because of this guy and we are having to jump through major hoops to not lose our Medicaid. This guy is a dumpster fire of a lawyer and his secretary was absolutely useless with getting information."

"Initial conversation was what sold me. After listening to my story, he stated, "I'm at that stage in my career that I will only take on new cases that I can win.". After I sent in the retainer, it was all downhill. He NEVER returned emails. He then charged me and invoiced for me each email I sent at $60 a pop with no return response. 14 emails and 3 phone calls each billed to me. I needed to get reimbursed for my out of pocket expenses with were now totaling in the $3000 range and he did absolutely nothing for 8 solid months. He did nothing to be proactive during the entire case. On 4 separate occasions, I would either find out a new development from the opposing party or request documents from the opposing party and send them to Van Epps. Van Epps actually charged me for sending those documents to him which he was supposed to send me. I would email Van Epps a court document and then he would have his staff put that Same document in the mail and CHARGE ME $120. WHAT!! Bottom line is that I had no representation--everything I did I personally negotiated with the opposite party. I sold everything in the trust and personal items in the trust, He never ever got me a dime for My PR fees for doing all this work. He did absolutely nothing on my behalf. I prepared the accounting for him, and I acquired documents from the court personally to do so. So that statement he made in the beginning--what it really meant was this..."I'm too old, tired, and lazy to do anything but I'll take your case so you can have a lawyer on paper and I will charge you astronomically until you lose or you give up, fire me, and find another lawyer."

"Adoption is an exciting, and sometimes stressful experience. Having the best legal aid can make all the difference. Matt is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He respects his client's time and his level of response is impeccable. Jenn, who answers the phone, is incredibly helpful and personable. The rates are absolutely fair and for the level of service, are a steal. I would recommend Matt VanEpps to anyone."
