"Do not hire this firm. They took advantage of my ex (and me) by playing the game of going around and around, petition after petition, fake emergency motions, etc. just to run up fees. They do not have your best interests at hand. My ex and I would make progress and Katz & Stefani would disagree just to disagree and drag it out for months and years charging for every minute. They billed my ex $5,500 in one day! Their work is so sloppy that they had my ex believe that I was hiding money...more money than we even made which would be amusing except their sloppy work cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars in excess legal fees let alone the anger and angst it caused everyone. They then fired my ex and sued her for over $70,000. The positive is that my ex found a nice, reasonable, affordable attorney to guide us to the finish line. Seriously, run from these people...it's enough to go through a divorce let alone be abused by money hungry attorneys who do not care one iota about you or your family. I would run from this firm and find a reputable firm that will help you to a resolution, not pretend to fight and make things worse just so they can say "I told you so" and run up more fees. Terri Brieske and Ashley Wood were the worst of the bunch. Yes, they represented my ex but I have no ill will because of that - obvious by the fact that I am recommending my ex’s second attorney above. This group has a total lack of morals, ethics and their work is sloppy on top of it all. They prey on their clients instead of helping them. Shameful behavior from this group."

"I called to ask about the possibility of receiving services on an accelerated timeline, and the person answering the phone was condescending and literally laughed at me. Not a great way to greet a potentially new client, even if the possibility of accomplishing the service on a quick turnaround was remote."

"I am an estate planning attorney in Arkansas. One of my clients is in need of assistance regarding a family law issue. I called Katz and Stefani and was greeted in a warm professional manner. The young lady on the phone was able to connect me with Lisa, a legal assistant, for a short consult regarding my client. Lisa indicated she would speak to a lawyer and be back with me shortly. Lisa called me back this afternoon. If am every in need of assistance with a family law matter in the Chicago area Katz and Stefani will be the first law firm I call."

"Excellent professional service. Matt Linstroth ably served as my advocate, while always keeping watch of the goal; a peaceful just settlement. He maintained a positive attitude and gave good sound advice. Had we known that the opposing side had been secretly reading our confidential emails, we may have obtained the normal 50/50 split rather than the resulting 47/53 split. The opposing side made good use of inside information to repeatedly negotiate an agreement and then retract and demand more. Matt characterized their actions as frustrating and less than principled. It was only after sending Matt an email stating that I had enough of this behavior and was ready to wait for our court date that the agreement was reached and honored. Had Matt dealt with an opposing side that played by the rules, I certainly could have had a better outcome. Knowing now what we were dealing with, I am all the more grateful to have had him as my advocate."
