This has included successfully obtaining and defending requests for domestic violence restraining orders, negotiating multiple settlements that involved complex business structures and real estate interests, navigating a client with substance abuse issues from no contact with their child to having primary custody through both contested and uncontested proceedings, and obtaining favorable orders in pre-trial discovery disputes that have helped lead to favorable final resolutions for his clients. "A great attorney is one who creates a strategy, develops a tailored game plan ahead of a court appearance, prepare you in advance for probable ways the proceeding would play out on the trial day, and know how to read the courtroom to adapt and adjust their trial presentation in real-time depending on the courtroom and proceeding flow for the best outcome out of that trial day. That’s exactly what I found in Matt. By the time I had my initial consultation with Matt, I was worn down by what the Family Law calls a “high-conflict divorce”—a dark consuming realm. I was just four weeks away from a trial scheduled to address all financial disputes. Those disputes were the last of the reserved issues for the dissolution of a community property sized at about $1 million. My trial involved fighting multiple requests from the other party. The other party disputed my legitimate separate property claims and my legitimate reimbursement claims. In addition, the other party requested two hundred thousand dollars from me in attorney fees and legal costs after seven years of Family Court legal proceedings. The stakes were high for me as the other party requested several hundred thousands of dollars more than the other party's fair share in the community property. And I needed a new attorney who could get up to speed within that ridiculously short duration, prepare a solid case, and bring it to a close without sacrificing any. From the moment I sat down with Matt for that initial consultation, I was struck by his data-driven approach. He laid out a clear and practical plan and I retained his service on the spot on that December day. And despite it being the holiday season, Matt made himself fully available. We had few in-person meetings that December holiday season—including one in-person huddle on Christmas Day when, in fact, his entire office staff was off. He was tireless in his preparation, and at trial, he skillfully presented and steered our case in real-time in response to how the proceeding unfolded that day. Matt made THE DIFFERENCE. He successfully managed that last stretch, yet absolutely critical, of my case. And he will always be remembered by me as the one who had my back at that very last stand... that absolute last stretch to the marriage dissolution finish line after an era of seven years of Family Court legal proceedings that were forced onto me. I am grateful and fortunate to have had him represent me."

"Alas, I had a most emotionally and financially challenging divorce that I had to respond to with my Ex. It endured over 4 years and required 2 separate trials before finally fully concluding successfully, (if that term may be used in such a setting.) The Erickson firm was always accurate, strategic and understanding of my concerns and needs to protect myself as the process unfolded. I was greatly benefitted by their representation and guidance moving forward. I highly recommend this firm, just as they had been recommended to me. 5 stars, because they earned it!"
