"Edit July 25, 2025...In response to Ms. Utesch — let’s be clear. It’s not that I didn’t get what I wanted. I succeeded in my legal efforts, and then some. That’s not the issue. This review isn’t about results. It’s about exposing poor performance from someone in a position of trust. Years later, I stand by every word. And her response to my original review? It’s a case study in weak negotiation and even weaker legal writing. If you’re considering hiring her, ask yourself: do you really want someone who can’t even respond coherently to criticism handling your case? (Not a good quality for a CFI in my opinion) Frankly, I write with more clarity and strength than she does, and I’m not billing anyone $300 an hour to do it. If her replies sound AI-generated, it’s probably because they are. Original review...My experience with Utesch Law, specifically with Kimberly (Kim) Utesch, during a CFI investigation was an absolute disappointment. I feel compelled to share my candid feedback, as the level of unprofessionalism and incompetence displayed throughout the process was beyond unacceptable. To begin with, the report prepared by Kimberly Utesch was shockingly subpar. It was evident that she had resorted to lazy shortcuts, as portions of the report were blatantly copy-pasted from previous investigations. This lack of originality not only undermined the credibility of the report but also demonstrated a blatant disregard for the unique circumstances of the case. It is deeply disheartening to see a professional in the legal field demonstrate such a lack of integrity and commitment to their work. Equally concerning was the manner in which the investigation was conducted. In an era where the COVID-19 pandemic is no longer a major hindrance, it was unreasonable and unprofessional to rely solely on online communication via webcam. It is simply incomprehensible that such a critical investigation would be carried out without any in-person interaction or thorough on-site examination. This approach reeks of incompetence and a lack of dedication to providing a comprehensive and accurate assessment of the situation. Moreover, the report itself was riddled with numerous errors, further exacerbating the already dismal quality of the investigation. Such a display of carelessness and negligence raises serious doubts about the professionalism and attention to detail of Utesch Law. It is only fortunate that the judge presiding over the case was discerning enough to see past the glaring deficiencies of the report and make an unbiased judgment based on the true merits of the situation. Overall, my experience with Utesch Law, specifically with Kimberly Utesch, has been nothing short of a nightmare. The poorly written report, the lackluster investigation conducted solely through online means, and the multitude of errors within the report all highlight a complete disregard for professionalism and commitment to excellence. I strongly advise against entrusting Utesch Law with any legal matters, as they have proven themselves to be unreliable, unscrupulous, and unworthy of the trust placed in them. I hope that by sharing my honest review, others will be spared from the disappointment and frustration I experienced with Utesch Law. Kim puts children in danger by not applying her professionalism to where it is needed. Luckily, my child is safe, and a bad report is easy to spot."

"I am incredibly grateful for the work that Kimberly Utesch did as the Child and Family Investigator for our custody case. From start to finish, Ms. Utesch approached her role with integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering focus on what was truly best for my daughter. She conducted a thorough and thoughtful investigation, giving each voice in the case—including my daughter’s—respectful and meaningful consideration. Ms. Utesch demonstrated compassion, objectivity, and a deep understanding of the impact family dynamics can have on a child’s emotional well-being. Her recommendations were not only well-reasoned and detailed, but they also reflected the care and insight of someone who clearly prioritizes the safety and emotional health of children above all else. Thanks to her diligent work, my daughter now has the stability and protection she deserves. I highly recommend Kimberly Utesch to any family in need of a fair, principled, and child-focused CFI."

"My experience with CFI Kimberly Utesch in Colorado was highly disappointing. From start to finish, it was evident that Ms. Utesch lacked the competence and dedication necessary for her role. Throughout the investigation process, she seemed to simply phone it in, displaying a lack of thoroughness and professionalism. She often had an auto-reply email set up which made getting a hold of her very difficult. She refused to review any videos or relevant evidence because would not allow me to send these items through Dropbox, as the files were too large for email. She conducted my "home visit" through Zoom. To make this even worse, when she called on Zoom to do the home visit she started to berate me and tell me that it was inappropriate that I had my child present for our interview. She seemingly forgot that this appointment was for the home visit that she had specifically asked me to have my child present. She then proceeded to turn her camera off and "watch us interact" for 30 minutes. One of the most concerning aspects of Ms. Utesch's performance was her failure to interview ANY of the family members who had submitted questionnaires...... on either side of the family. This negligence not only demonstrates a lack of diligence but also raises serious doubts about the validity and fairness of her findings. How can a comprehensive investigation be conducted without gathering input from all relevant parties? Furthermore, Ms. Utesch's overall competency was severely lacking. It was clear that she did not possess the necessary skills or knowledge to handle the complexities of the case. Her lack of attention to detail and apparent disinterest in the matter at hand only exacerbated the situation. To make things worse she then asked for more money at the end of her investigation. The ONLY thing my son's mother and I have ever agreed on is that Ms Utesch has no business being a CFI. Less than a year after her report was completed, our judge allowed us to have another investigation completed. This report had DRASTICALLY different findings. Her entire report was a waste of time and money. Overall, I would not recommend Ms. Utesch as a CFI based on my experience. Her subpar performance and lack of thoroughness do a disservice to the families relying on her expertise. I urge anyone seeking a competent and dedicated CFI to look elsewhere."
