About:
It is a privilege and a passion for me to serve clients throughout the Kansas City, Miami, and South Florida metropolitan areas who deserve thorough and principled legal representation for criminal defense and traffic matters. People make mistakes. Whether they are charged with drugs, violent crimes, domestic violence, traffic tickets, DUI, or dealing with a restraining order they still deserve proper representation in an often confusing legal system. The Miami and Kansas City metros are home to multiple courts, cities, counties, state, and federal jurisdictions. Knowing these systems well helps me to help clients effectively. Through my firm, The Wichman Law Firm with main offices in Kansas City, Missouri and Miami, Florida, for those respective regions, I represent individuals with compassionate care and respect, whatever the case. I bring a highly successful track record based on thorough preparation and skilled negotiation strategies. I'm a native of Johnson County, Kansas, a graduate of Bishop Miege, Kansas State University and Ava Maria School of Law, and have been residing in greater KC and greater Miami for many years, splitting time in each and handling cases regularly from both offices. I believe that what sets me apart as an attorney is my persistence on behalf of clients. I'm proud to maintain my practice in my hometown Kansas City area and regularly handle cases in both Missouri and Kansas, as well as handling cases in my new home in the Miami area and the tri-county region of South Florida, where I have been visiting regularly and residing since 2018. I have been recognized as Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters after many years named a Rising Star, have maintained a "Superb" 10.0/10.0 Rating by Martindale/Avvo.com since they first rated me in approximately 2014, a leading lawyer rating service, and was voted the best Trial Lawyer and Criminal Defense Lawyer in 2023, 2024, and 2025 as a KC Favorite by the Kansas City Star newspaper. "My overall experience was pretty negative I was at a bar when I felt a panic attack coming on, so I went to the pharmacy to pick up my panic attack meds (I was out and forgot to go earlier) but instead they called the cops on me. Maybe my charges were of a lower caliber than what he’s used to dealing with, but in my first court appearance (he scheduled)the judge spoke to about 15 people before me and then waited with me for him for 20 minutes before she decided to speak to me without him. He showed up after the judge and I spoke and after I’d already left the building, but still told me he wasn’t late to my court date and that I shouldn’t be upset by that. My second appearance in the court room (reserved from 10 to 11) he showed up at 10.55. He also said it would be better to tell the court I was just drunk and that was the reason I got arrested so they wouldn’t think I was a crazy person roaming the streets, even thigh I’m on panic attack medication and have been seeing the same therapist for four years. He also didn’t try to argue over my resisting arrest charge for screaming for help while I was pinned to the ground by about 5 men with guns and bullet proof vests, and said the fact that the cops took away my clothes and had me cuffed on a bench in an open room half naked for four hours wasn’t really relevant. I wish I had listened to my gut and gone to someone else, but overall I found him to be not very communicative and seemed to minimize my experience. Our last interaction took 5 emails and a phone call to get a response from him. $3,000 feels like an overinvestment now it’s all over honestly. Like I’ve already said, maybe this is just not very serious to him even if it was a big deal to me, but even if that was the case it’s not very professional to brush over all my concerns and questions."
