About:
Katie has spent her entire legal career advocating for her clients. She spent over 14 years as a public defender in Fulton County, representing individuals charged with felony crimes at the trial and appellate level. Most of her career at the public defender’s office was spent in the complex felony unit, representing people charged with the most serious crimes; murder, armed robbery, sex crimes and drug trafficking. More recently, Katie was a partner in a boutique law firm, trying cases and representing clients all over the Metro Atlanta area. Her many years in the courtroom have earned her a reputation as a fearless advocate who fights hard for every client. Katie has served as lead counsel in thousands of felony cases in both trial and appellate litigation, including over fifty murder cases and two hundred sex crimes. During her time at the public defender’s Office, Katie was an integral part of the Office Training Committee tasked with training other attorneys in litigation and trial skills. She also supervised attorneys both in court, and sat second chair assisting other attorneys during trial. Katie has frequently been asked to consult by fellow attorneys on their cases.

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an outstanding experience working with Katie Elwart and her team. From the very first consultation through to the resolution of my case, Katie demonstrated a high degree of legal acumen, dedication, and clear communication. What particularly stood out was her ability to distill complex legal concepts into readily understandable terms. Every step of the process was outlined clearly, keeping me informed and confident in the strategy being pursued. Katie was not only highly responsive—often answering questions within hours—but she also genuinely cared about securing the best possible outcome on my behalf. Her attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and unwavering commitment set her apart. "As we were leaving the court room we overheard some people say "She is the best lawyer money can buy." She helped me handle an extremely stressful court case and helped me be able to see my son again. We joked that I am going to get her name tattooed on my arm in gratitude for her services. I would recommend her highly."

"What can I say. The best lawyer out there. Ms.Elwart did her thing at what she's best at. I had a good 6 year left on probation and Ms.Elwart was able to get the early termination happen for me. She was quick to get a court date and did everything she needed to do stand on business. Very nice, understanding, well communicated and is able to help and listen. I can't thank her enough of how she has changed my life and I can live free again. Just a huge relief. It was very nice to work with her and I'd recommend her to my friends and family."
