Julia received a BA in Criminology and BA in Sociology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Julia went on to earn her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (N/K/A Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School), in Lansing, Michigan. During law school, Julia competed in the Mock Trial First Year Competition and was a semifinalist. She also competed in Moot Court and was a finalist in the Negotiations Competition. During her last semester of law school, Julia completed an externship at the Durham County Public Defender’s Office. Julia is an associate attorney in the Family Law department. Julia focuses on Family Law and Domestic Violence Protections Orders. Julia has always had a love for this area of law. Julia herself is a stepmom. "Review for Bagwell Holt Smith P.A. – Attorney Lauren R. Nance & Paralegal Carmen Hightower We hired Bagwell Holt Smith P.A. to handle a real estate closing for a property we purchased in Durham, NC in June 2024. Unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing and has caused significant financial harm to our business. The firm made a critical error when registering the deed. As a result, the property title is not clear, and we are currently unable to sell the house. This has led to substantial losses, as we continue to carry the property without being able to recover our investment. We attempted to contact the firm multiple times for an explanation or a resolution. Our calls and messages were ignored. Eventually, attorney Lauren R. Nance returned our call, but she spoke so fast and angrily that it was very difficult to understand—especially for a non-native English speaker. This lack of professionalism and empathy made the situation even worse. We expected a law firm to handle our transaction with care, accuracy, and responsibility. Instead, we have been left with a costly problem and no support from the team responsible for it. I do not recommend this law firm based on our experience. If you are a real estate investor or business owner, please proceed with caution when choosing Bagwell Holt Smith, specially Lauren R. Nance-Attorney and Carmen Hightower-paralegal"
