I've been practicing criminal law since 2004 after graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law. I started my career as an assistant public defender in the Texas Panhandle, where I learned to try cases of all types. I moved to Austin in 2006 to become a prosecutor at the Travis County District Attorney's Office, where I stayed for 15 years. During that time, I handled child abuse and domestic violence cases, murders, aggravated robberies, DWI, and drug possession cases. If it's a felony offense, I've seen it and worked on it. I left the DA's Office in 2021 to start my own criminal defense practice and joined Cofer & Connelly in summer 2023. I have handled over 100 jury trials and am proud to leverage my experience and expertise for my clients. I live in Austin with my wife, three daughters, and our very good girl, Gracie (English Pointer).

"Outdated, Disconnected, and Disgracefully Mismanaged This office is stuck in the past and run like it’s 1985. The Title & Registration process in Lincoln County is completely OUTDATED and doesn’t even align with the DMV system used across the rest of the state. Staff are poorly trained, misinformed, and constantly give residents conflicting instructions — assuming you can get a straight answer at all. I’ve now had to return multiple times just to complete a basic registration because no one knows what documents are actually required. The employees seem confused and unprepared, and rather than helping, they pass you off or shrug it off like it’s your fault. Treasurer Sheri Newton should be held accountable. It's clear there’s ZERO effort being made to streamline processes, update procedures, or even publish helpful info online. She’s either too lazy to fix it or simply doesn’t care — either way, the public is paying the price for her negligence. This office is a disgrace to Lincoln County. It needs a complete overhaul, fresh leadership, and connection to real-time DMV systems — not excuses and outdated bureaucracy."

"I wish I could give zero honesty. Security guards all have bad attitudes. Vehicle registration people are rude and slow there is always about an hour wait. I didn't realize they hired turtles. Judges are corrupt and basically work for the police and do what they say not what's true and right. They side with women also so if your a man your screwed. Dirty and very outdated. Smallest bathrooms I have ever seen like you can barely fit in the door might as well already be in jail because that's how they treat you. They have the main door locked constantly which at that point why have the door. Terrible place and terrible people."
