About:

When he was in high school, Jeff sensed that he was destined to be an attorney. For example, after receiving his results from an exam in his Spanish class, and then further confronting his teacher about the test, Jeff’s instructor told him, “you should be a lawyer…you want to argue about everything.” Jeff’s parents, when told of the advice that he had received that morning, tended to agree and offered the same advice, in that they had the same type of experiences as Jeff’s Spanish teacher; from “arguing” about what time to go to bed, to what time curfew was, Jeff was always zealously advocating his position. That “advice” that he received from his parents and at school proved prophetic, as Jeff, even in college, attempted other career paths. However, he kept going back to that “advice” he had received back at Hall High School in Spring Valley, Illinois. During his middle school and high school days, Jeff witnessed the effects that crime (uncharacteristic for his small town) had on the community, and those experiences lead Jeff to pursue a legal career, as he began taking pre-law classes at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa,, eventually leading to his first legal internship at the Bureau County State’s Attorney’s Office in Princeton, Illinois. After completing a semester of interning with the county’s elected prosecutor, Jeff has not looked back. He graduated cum laude from St. Ambrose. From there, he studied at Valparaiso University School of Law, where he took part in the University’s Cambridge, England study abroad program. His sense of duty to help others then lead Jeff to a lengthy stint at the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. Jeff began there as a law clerk in 2004, and when he left in 2012, he was handling very complex felony cases, from First Degree Murder to Sexual Assault cases. While at the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, Jeff was a leader in the office, having been selected in 2006 as the

"When I started looking for family law offices in the area, Goostree came as one of the top family law firms in Kane County. The first meeting with Alex and Tricia was memorable. Tricia laid everything out about possibilities and expectations. 2 things stuck with me was: 1)they cared, and 2)they do not believe in false hope, they are straightforward regardless of how hard it may be to hear. They wanted the best outcome, not just for me, but also for my child. Alex is outstanding! He made me feel comfortable from day 1. He was very attentive and very professional, even when things got heated. Alex demonstrated that his care for law and care for his client are top priorities. He ensured transparency and “to the point” with me. Overall, I recommend Alex from Goostree Law. The professionalism and quality of work is superb. The firm’s values of integrity, commitment, and transparency are shown through his work. If the unfortunate circumstance comes up again that I need family law, Alex will be my first choice."

"I took the advice of someone I didn't know well (another attorney) but thought I knew well enough and could at least trust, and I chose to hire this firm (Sara Busche) to represent me in a post-divorce matter, a matter which was/is of the utmost critical importance not only to me and my own well-being (financially, physically, emotionally, mentally ...) but also to the well-being of my children and in particular my daughter, who is still a student. They had my case for 4 months. In that short time, they charged me almost $15K while doing nothing to advance the case. The whole reason I hired them in the first place was because my ex-husband had threatened to discontinue all spousal support (Maintenance) of his own volition, without any court order allowing him to do so. He then stopped ALL court-ordered payments, and while I had no income, this firm demanded payment of my bill IN FULL within one week or they would withdraw from my case. Which they then did, because without any income (the exact reason I hired them to begin with) and no savings after a long, drawn-out divorce a few years prior, it was not possible for me to pay the bill in full. They not only withdrew from the case but also threatened to pursue legal action against me to collect the remaining balance if not immediately paid. All this while they were hired to represent me in the case to pursue collection of $$$$ from my ex-husband. Not only did they do nothing to advance the case closer to a resolution, they actually made the case (and my own financial situation) so much worse. Incomparably worse. Significantly worse. But that didn't seem to bother them. I had serious doubts about them and their willingness and ability to work on my case, to advance it, and most importantly to be a true legal advocate for me during the entire process, even as we were working together. However, I also knew it would make things significantly harder to fire them at whim and re-hire another, so I plugged along, always giving them the benefit of the doubt, even while my attorney was so often unreachable ("out of the office") for a week at a time, several times a month, during which time the case would sit untouched. If I had read a review like this or if anyone had shared these experiences (or anything remotely similar) with me before I chose to hire Sara and this firm, I would've never considered hiring them in the first place. At the very very least, it would've caused me to pause very long and very hard before making my decision. Unfortunately, I had to learn the hardest way .... through my own personal experience. Hopefully mine will help someone else though ... because I don't want anyone else to experience even close to what I have with this firm. When someone hires an attorney, it's typically because they need a good legal advocate. They need someone to go out there and fight harder for them than anyone else. That's what I thought I was going to get when I paid them their retainer. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. At all. Not even close. Not even in the ballpark. They not only chose to suddenly withdraw from the case, after not advancing it and still charging almost $15K, but they lied to me (I have the email) about the reason for withdrawing, stating it was due to my attorney leaving the firm and "the firm's inability to continue with my case due to an already heavy case load." And, they also had NO qualms about threatening to sue me over the amount due, when literally the entire reason I hired them to begin with was that I had no income because of my ex's refusal to pay each month what he was court-ordered to pay. This should help you to understand the type of firm they are and what's most important to them ... certainly not their clients or their cases or wanting to be the best legal representation out there. I sincerely regret hiring them, and I'm posting this review in the hopes that YOU will think long and hard before ever considering hiring them to legally represent and fight for YOU."

"I had the privilege of working with Tricia Goostree and the Goostree Law Group on a highly complex custody case, and I can confidently say that she is one of the best family law attorneys in Illinois. Tricia and her team demonstrated exceptional legal expertise, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to protecting my parental rights. One of the most challenging aspects of my case involved jurisdictional disputes and complex custody laws across state lines. Tricia’s deep understanding of the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) was instrumental in navigating these legal hurdles and ensuring that my children’s best interests remained the priority. She skillfully countered tactics designed to manipulate the system and fought hard to ensure my rights as a father were recognized. Too often, fathers face an uphill battle in custody disputes, but Tricia never backed down. She was always well-prepared, realistic, and strategic in her approach, giving me the confidence and legal support I needed to push forward. She and her team were responsive, thorough, and truly invested in the outcome of my case. If you’re a father seeking a strong advocate who truly understands family law, I highly recommend Tricia Goostree and her firm. She fights for fairness, knows the law inside and out, and delivers results when it matters most."

"Ugly experience! Jeff Muntz was a Gardian Ad Litem(GAL) in my divorce case. Jeff Muntz was composing an Allocation Judgement for parental time... 1 year! I spent tons of hours working on his drafts - fixing nonsense, errors and typos. But their billing is terrible as well! They did not send me bills but I was receiving scary late payment reminders instead... and after I was asking them for bills to send me - I paid them then. But... Jeff Muntz sent me a bunch of emails after that I owe them $500+. I replied that there is a zero balance and that their accounting and billing are terrible... Jeff Muntz told me that he will file a fee petition but did not send me any bills or reconciling papers. The pure racketeering! They are just money suckers."
