"I was referred to Epperson Law by a friend—and I regret taking the advice. From the beginning, my custody case was bounced between three different attorneys. Mr. Epperson told me personally that he would handle the courtroom side, while junior associates would handle the background work. That turned out to be completely untrue. At one point, I was assigned Mr. Hartman, who gave me awful legal advice, delayed the case unnecessarily, and then quit the firm—right in the middle of everything. Still holding on to hope, I was then placed with Paulina Havelka, and that’s where things truly fell apart. Notes and evidence were scrambled together the day before the hearing. Come court day, Paulina showed up completely unprepared—and was outmatched by the opposing party, who didn’t even have an attorney. Yes, you read that right—she got destroyed by someone who was representing themselves. It was embarrassing, frustrating, and frankly insulting, especially given what I paid. To make matters worse, the opposing party somehow had information I only discussed with my legal team. That’s a huge breach of trust. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had with any law firm—rude, lazy, disorganized, and unreliable. I wouldn’t recommend Epperson Law to anyone."

"I was unexpectedly served with a lawsuit from someone in N.C a while back, and since I live in a different state, I didn't know where to turn. I was referred to James Epperson in Charlotte, NC and am so glad I called his office. He set our consultation for a weekend, so it would be convenient for me & since I retained him that day, the consultation was free. He was straight up and honest with me about the case and what I could expect along the way. One thing I appreciated the most was when I had a question or concern, he would always get back with me immediately, whether by phone, e-mail, or text. He was available to help even on weekends and evenings. This really put my mind at ease, especially with the distance I live from his office. This was greatly appreciated as all attorneys I've dealt with in the past were no where near as accessible. I'm happy to say my case was recently settled and I have Mr. Epperson and his associates to thank for that. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who has a Family Law issue."

"Absolutely best public defender money can buy!! Mr. Epperson is more than happy to take you on as a client but what he won't tell you is that he takes on every case and therfore has no actual time to study your case or defend you. I never once had the same lawyer from his office defend me in my case. It was always someone different that was asking for a crash course right before we walked into the courtroom. I would strongly recommend anyone reading this to continue to search for representation elsewhere. Don't be fooled. The consultation is the one and only time you will see Mr. Epperson. Everything else will be handled by whatever lawyer they have on hand that has absolutely no insight to your case. Worst experience with a law firm ive ever had."

"His response below is misleading. He knew everything about my case before he took my money he knows now. I told him the whole truth. If there was nothing he could do because of my mistake, why take my money? Mr. Epperson graciously allowed me a free phone consultation and listened and told me he absolutely could help me. I sent him a $7500 "retainer". After a few days he had another attorney contact me and send me a questionnaire. I filled it out and the other attorney emailed me to tell me there was nothing that could be done. I repeatedly called and emailed asking for at least a little bit of a refund. Most went unanswered or the secretary assisted the attorneys in dodging me. It was finally explained to me that case law might change and the money was to investigate that. I insisted on talking to Mr Epperson. I hadn't had any contact with him since the consultation. When I finally did I basically begged for at least a partial refund. He told me he would think about it. 2 years later I haven't heard anything from anyone from this law office. Just a heads up. They do not feel obligated to nor empathy for clients."
