DVLawyers AI Summary:

The Southwest Louisiana Law Center (SWLA) focuses on providing affordable legal assistance to individuals who may not qualify for free services but still struggle to afford standard legal fees. Their commitment to serving the economically disadvantaged communities in Southwest Louisiana creates a welcoming environment for survivors of domestic violence. The firm’s attorneys understand the sensitive nature of domestic violence cases and approach each situation with empathy and compassion. At SWLA, the legal team is dedicated to helping clients navigate the complexities of family law, including custody disputes, restraining orders, and other matters related to domestic violence. Their trauma-informed approach prioritizes client well-being and seeks to empower survivors to reclaim control of their lives. The attorneys are described as dependable and calm, indicating a supportive tone that is essential for individuals who may be dealing with the emotional aftermath of abuse. While the firm does not provide free legal services, they utilize a sliding fee scale to make their assistance more accessible. This ensures that clients can receive the legal guidance they need without the added stress of financial burden. Their vast experience and understanding of the unique challenges faced by survivors make them a potentially good fit for those seeking representation in domestic violence cases. However, it’s essential for survivors to feel comfortable and connected with their legal representation. If you are considering SWLA Law Center, it may be beneficial to reach out for an initial consultation to discuss your specific needs and gauge the personal connection with the attorneys. "Horrible experience. I am going through a divorce. I don't have a lot of income. I paid for a $100 hour consultation. The lawyer didn't even call on my scheduled appointment day. I set another consultation, he was VERY late calling me. I only have 30 minutes for my lunch break and was told that I could schedule 2 separate consultations to get my full hour. The lawyer called at the last 5 minutes of my lunch break. There's no way he could have gotten enough information about me and my situation within 5 minutes. On my next consultation day, he was late calling again. It seemed as if he didn't care for my time or my case. He kept cutting me off, not listening to my concerns, and really seemed like he didn't want to fight for me. Lawyer told me that I couldn't get spousal support or anything and that I should just let my husband take whatever he wants from me. I was also told that this law firm will work with you based on your income. ALL LIES. I was asked for a very unreasonable amount for him to represent me and he wasted my time and money. I was able to get better advice from a criminal lawyer in five minutes than I was from this man. Do not go to this place for anything related to family law. Waste of my money, time, and energy."
