About:
I am an attorney as well as a divorced father of two young children and I specialize in all aspects of family law including divorce, child custody, child support, modifications of custody and support, paternity, legitimation, temporary protective orders, contempt of court orders, parental rights, adoption, and more. My unique background as a single father gives me a great understanding of my clients and the challenges they face. I know what they are going through and how they feel because I've been through it, as well, and I inherently understand the necessity of being a caring, expert advocate for others going through this painful process. I will help you get through whatever family law situation you are facing, and I'm here to protect your and your children's rights as well as help you deal with the emotional aspects of it all. "I had a very bad experience with this law firm. They were representing me, but my attorney (Kristy Seidenberg) did not actually represent my wishes or my best interest during the course of my divorce. That's the short version for those looking for brevity. As to specifics, I was looking to put an offer in front of my then-wife and her attorney that called for 50/50 custody of our child and allocated the vast majority of our assets to her (give her the home free and clear, the pets go to her, all the furnishings go to her, each keep our own checking and car, fairly split the savings, etc). I had these proposals ready in draft form in December. My then-wife and I had already verbally agreed to all of it, but needed it spelled out in a way the court would accept. We were not confident in our ability to do that on our own. After filing, we went into discovery. It was a "non-deep" one. I was told this had to be done before any sort of offer could even be sent to her team. Not true. It took two months. Then Kristy began "trying" to schedule a time to talk with my then-wife's attorney. I kept checking in with her for the next two months where virtually nothing happened EXCEPT I was regularly receiving a bill from the Hetch firm. Turns out and email saying "no mike, I haven't heard anything. I will try them again later this week" costs a client $75 to $150. Each time. I was a little frustrated by this point, as I had asked repeatedly if we could send my proposals. By this time I had versed myself in GA divorce law a little and had actually drafted an appropriate Parenting Plan and Division of Assets we could submit for signature and then to the court. My attorney still had not even sent them to apposing council, nor said she would draft instead (she actually complimented my intelligence and quick grasp of the legal system). 4-5 months after starting the process, I made the decision to remove them as my council and work "pro se". I had asked Kristy to remain on my team, but as an advisor. This would let me communicate directly with my then-wife's attorney and handle the following up and submissions myself. I wanted Kristy on as an advisor as she still knew GA law better than I. Two weeks later we were done with the whole process. I leaned on Kristy once when we had a final agreement and asked her to make sure I wasn't missing anything as it seemed acceptable to what I want. Two days later she called with a "looks good" and another $350 bill for her time spent reading it. In summary, I want to say I do NOT think they were malicious or scamming me. Nothing like that. They just saw my case as one more on the pile while my specific attorney clearly had too many on there already. They did this whole process in the way they do every case and they did it when they had time. Not good service to a guy making a "generous offer" and being "surprisingly reasonable" (their words). I would look elsewhere if I had to do this again. Or do it solo from the start. BTW, if you are looking at long reviews for divorce attorneys - sorry for whatever brought you here. Hope you find what you need."
