"Dean was utterly useless in my divorce and a complete waste of money. His communication was poor with me and opposing counsel. He provided no direction or assistance. I do not recommend - I found another lawyer to complete the divorce."

"I strongly advise against retaining this attorney. Five years ago, he agreed to represent a family member pursuing custody of my children for reasons that appeared to be driven by personal animosity rather than legitimate legal grounds. During the initial motion hour—prior to my retention of legal counsel—he approached me outside the courtroom (an area monitored by surveillance cameras) and stated that unless I complied with his client’s demands, it was his professional obligation to portray me in the most unfavorable light possible before the court. This interaction not only struck me as unethical and unbecoming of someone in his profession, but it also demonstrated a complete disregard for the best interests of my children. It became clear that his focus was not on the welfare of those involved, but rather on achieving a victory at any cost. Over the subsequent five years, his clients have failed to secure any favorable rulings. Nevertheless, he has facilitated the continuous filing of appeals and motions, despite the apparent lack of merit in their case. At this stage, the protracted litigation feels less like legal advocacy and more like a form of harassment. In my assessment, he lacks the professional integrity to provide his clients with an honest evaluation of their case’s weaknesses and instead perpetuates unnecessary legal proceedings—potentially as a means to continue billing them. It is my belief that he may be one of the few attorneys in Jefferson County willing to pursue such a case. Furthermore, I have found his legal work to be deficient in accuracy and diligence. Throughout the course of the proceedings, he has repeatedly confused the names of the co-petitioners in official filings, which reflects a concerning lack of attention to detail and professionalism. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend his services to anyone, unless they happen to be opposing me in litigation. ————— Update 1/3/25 Every word I have stated is the truth. Following our interaction, I contacted the courthouse to inquire about obtaining the camera footage. He did, in fact, approach me as I was leaving the courtroom after motion hour. His choice to deny this, rather than acknowledge his actions, speaks volumes. Perhaps he doesn’t remember – it likely meant little to him. But I will never forget. Imagine being a mother with a two-month-old child, only to learn that family sought custody simply because you refused to grant them access. When you find yourself in a position to protect your children, every detail stays with you. He could have left the courtroom and gone about his day, but instead, he chose to confront me – a clear attempt at intimidation. For that, I am grateful. It propelled me to seek out an exceptional attorney – and that is precisely what I did. In the past five years, his clients have not been granted any favorable rulings by the Jefferson County Courts or the Kentucky Court of Appeals. An honest attorney would have advised them long ago that they had no case. I find it telling that Mr. Sutton claims his clients are “pleased” when they have not seen my children in five years, and the courts have consistently determined that they should have no access to them. With each rejection, Mr. Sutton files yet another motion or appeal – only to receive the same result. If his clients are truly “pleased” despite losing every motion and being denied access by the courts, it reveals their true motive. This was never about the best interests of the children. It was about harassing me – and Mr. Sutton facilitates this because it lines his pockets. Consider this a warning."

"Dean is, without a doubt, the most exceptional lawyer I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. His fees are not only reasonable, but he also has a deep understanding of the financial strain that divorce can bring, and he navigates these challenges with incredible compassion. His unwavering support meant so much to me that I paid off his balance in full, so he could take a much-deserved break.. What sets Dean apart is his calm, steady demeanor paired with sharp legal expertise. Even in the midst of a difficult, high-conflict case, he made it clear that he was fully committed to my interests, not swayed by the complexities of legal politics. He was patient through much anxiety. His approach is grounded in logic, case law, and sound reasoning—not fear or intimidation tactics. His loyalty to his clients is unquestionable, and I am truly grateful for the impact he had on my case. Dean has earned my deepest gratitude and respect for everything he did for me. Thank you!"

"CON MAN. When I say this is the biggest con man ever, I mean for any reason, do NOT hire this man for any reason. We gave him very clear instructions on what we needed, he agreed and gave us a price. He required we pay it up front. He then did everything opposite of what we discussed, and of course tried to charge us more, kept our money when he accomplished absolutely nothing. We literally had nothing on our case done, but he said that he worked on it four hours of useless research and kept all of our money while none of his research helped in any way. He literally refused to give us any money back after doing NOTHING. He is way off, personality way off, just out for money. His license should be revoked."
