About:
Caryn A. Van Matre, Attorney at Law, has been representing families in Northwest Florida in a variety of family law matters since 1993. Our practice first opened in the downtown Pensacola historic district, which is where our office remains. We represent clients involved in family law disputes in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties. Our focus areas include divorce and modification actions involving alimony, child custody, time-sharing and support and asset protection. We also assist clients in establishing paternity rights and support obligations for children. Associated with these matters are issues of enforcement and contempt for violation of court orders. We also represent clients who are involved in domestic violence proceedings. Another deeply rewarding aspect of our practice is in representing families in adoption proceedings, probate and guardianship matters, and in the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, medical directives and living wills. My area of emphasis comes from a deep love of family and respect for importance of strong family relationships. While our approach to representing clients is very focused, we are ever mindful that decisions made today can have generational impact. Strength in family means a better environment for the children of our community. Respect, even in adversarial processes, must be shown to all involved. These are concepts that I instill in my own children. If a client chooses to engage my services, I do my best to offer them straight-forward and honest advice, keeping them focused on the priority issues. I listen. I assess. I act in my clients' best interests, all while trying to maintain the integrity of the process. Well though-out settlements are always my objective. But when that fails, we prepare to offer to the Court a strong, logical case, supported by the law and evidence, so that the best outcome can be achieved and my client has the resources to move forward..

"Caryn is intelligent, ethical, intuitive, patient, compassionate, constructive, quick witted, professional, ingenious and I can probably keep going but one thing I appreciated was her transparency with me. I had a high conflict divorce/custody case and I did not feel it would be over as fast as it was but to my surprise we were able to fully settle at mediation with a desirable result. Caryn was quick to notice important details, was outstanding in her communication with opposing counsel and I felt completely safe trusting her judgment. I'm impressed by her integrity and perseverance. I have looked into a few attorneys but my gut told me Caryn was the one and I'm so glad I listened, I feel like this experience may have been a lot messier without her representation. Thankyou again Caryn! I have so much appreciation and gratitude for everything you have done and accomplished for me and my children."
