"I cannot praise enough the compassion and efficiency I encountered immediately upon my first contact with Michael Simmrin. We reached out to him for help getting a family member discharged from a 5150/5250 hold situation. Under the 5150 hold, our relative was placed in a psychiatric facility that mostly houses homeless individuals and drug addicts, even former inmates, and is in the habit of extending their holds while securing more permanent solutions for them. They were going to extend the involuntary hold placed on our relative while not having even begun treatment. Needless to say, that environment was not at all appropriate for our relative. I reached out to Michael and within 24 hours, our relative was discharged to seek outpatient care. Michael and his associate Karen provided timely explanations of the process and expert advice on how to proceed, and were available at all time. I would highly recommend hiring Michael for these types of issues."

"My wife was admitted to a psychiatric hospital on a Thursday Morning on a 5150 hold. From that point on I was nothing but stressed out wandering what was going to happen next. Would the hospital keep her for an extended time, would the hospital give her the wrong medicines and make her worse. Speaking to my wife, She was becoming more depressed each day she was in the hospital. She needed quiet and needed to sleep but during the night she said some of the patients would freak out, scream and cause all kinds of disruptions to the hospital. She said that there were dangerous patients who talked about killing people and wanted to fight other patients. She told me that she was afraid they weren't going to release her after the initial 3 day hold and she was told by one of the nurses that they were going to place her on a 14-30 day hold. Knowing that my wife was not getting the care she needed or deserved in this facility, I started searching for 51-50 lawyers and watched Micheal Simmrin's video and decided to call him. Believe it or not, I was able to speak to Michael at 10:30 on a Saturday night. I don't know when he sleeps or rests since he is available 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. He was able to calm me down a bit and told me not to worry he would get her out. Of course, there is nothing that is guaranteed but I did feel some sense of relief. Any time I had a concern, Micheal would get back to me in a relatively short time. Finally, on Monday, I called my wife's social worker to find out what time her hearing would be on Tuesday to find out if she would be held longer and to my surprise, relief and amazement, she said my wife would be released on Tuesday morning. I called Micheal and let him know she was being release and he told me that he had been hammering the hospital all day long to get her release. Micheal also told me that this particular hospital hated and was afraid of him. If I am ever in the same situation again or if you are dealing with a 5150 issue for the first time, call Micheal. If he's not the best lawyer dealing with 5150, I don't know who would be better. The scary thing about a 5150 is that your loved one loses their freedom to leave the hospital until the hospital decides when your loved one is able to leave. How much is your loved one's freedom worth? Call Micheal and you will get the help you need."

"A family member was placed on a 5150 hold and transferred to an inpatient facility—not because she truly needed it, but because the hospital wanted to avoid liability. The new facility seemed motivated by profit, ready to exploit laws that would keep her committed for 14 more days. In a moment of desperation late Friday evening, I called Michael. His office picked up immediately—my first sign they truly put clients first. Within an hour, he was already working on my mom’s release and worked tirelessly and persistently all Friday and Saturday. He kept constant communication with me and responded to all of my questions and concerns. I was worried that the facility would not release my mother given their reputation. Incredibly, Michael’s persistence got her discharged in under 24 hours, despite the facility’s total lack of cooperation. He kept me informed and reassured throughout. "Damon is an amazing attorney who has helped my family but most important my brother. He has been my brother’s attorney for the past three years and a half. These were some heavy/serious charges which were conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and murder. Damon saved my brother from three life sentences. First trial resulted in a 6-6 hang.
